The Center for Celiac Research is one of the world's most highly regarded celiac institutions. Led by Dr. Alessio Fasano, the Center is responsible for the epidemiological study that found 1 in 133 people has celiac disease, and recently established the diagnosis of non-celiac gluten sensitivity. The Center has also been at the forefront of the effort to pressure the FDA to issue gluten-free food labeling regulations.
The Center has always been located at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, but has just announced that it is moving to Mass General Hospital in Boston, Massachusets. Tonight I'll talk with Dr. Fasano about that move, and what it will mean for the future of celiac research.
