In this first episodse of 2021, host Eric Y. Lapointe speaks with Tony Havelka, the President of Ameba which was Canada’s longest running kids VOD channel, initially set up in 2007.

The conversation starts off by talking reviewing Havelka's first efforts in the technology business, as one of the earliest manufacturers of VR headsets back in 1992, all the way to launching Ameba as a kids OTT service in 2007.

Ameba is a children’s video streaming service that was created, out of Winnipeg Manitoba. It’s free with ads but they ultimately focus on a subscription-based model. The service is only available in the United States and Canada and can be found on their own website amebatv.com as well as Amazon, TiVO, Xbox 360, Roku, Google TV, Cinemood, Xumo, LG Smart TVs and more. After 13 years in business, this has all resulted in over 10,000 episodes and 2,000 hours of children’s programming.
