Smiles International
Dr. Jeff Moses
In this episode of the GIVE podcast, we are thrilled to welcome Dr. Jeff Moses of Smiles International. Dr. Jeff is the founder of this profound organization that helps young children all the way through youth with multiple surgeries that are required to repair a cleft lip deformity. Many of these repairs can take up to seven surgeries to correct- and are completely necessary for these kids to enter society as a fully functioning adult.
Cleft palate surgeries are not a simple procedure. Cleft palate alone tends to be associated more with syndromic issues, cardiac events, and possible hearing loss. The ramifications of not fixing this can be dire. That’s where Smiles International comes in. They coordinate and help or completely pay for all of these surgeries for kids all around the world who otherwise might not have the access or ability to take care of this issue.
This is mission is not always easy, as it takes an average of five different branches of professionals to complete a series of surgeries. However, Smiles International has cultivated relationships with many countries and manufacturers to be able to complete these life-saving surgeries for as many children as possible.
