XIO by Ylette, a unique monthly jewelry subscription service founded by Ylette Luis, a Miami based Cuban-American, fashion-forward entrepreneur, jewelry designer is excited to announce the company’s first scholarship & fellowship program to a deserving, South Florida student. Beginning this fall, XIO by Ylette will select a minority, college-bound high school senior to be the recipient of the scholarship that will include: a brand new MacBook for their studies,  a yearly $2,000 grant to cover the cost of books each semester until they graduate and a paid summer internship providing critical hands-on experience with an entrepreneurial brand.

“We have taken the time to reflect on truly effective ways we as a brand can help contribute to the ending of systemic racism, bigotry, and police brutality. Our goal is to do our part in leveling the playing field for someone who despite their work and dedication, may otherwise, be at a disadvantage compared to others in their own classroom. Our hope is to help contribute to the increase in minority business school graduates, yielding more minority business owners and entrepreneurs, who can, in turn, carry the responsibility of diversifying their workforce. Rules for entering:

·      The contest entry period will run beginning now, through July 15th.

·      Applicants must submit a video statement of purpose, providing XIO by Ylette some insight as to why they are deserving of the scholarship, tagging @XIO_ByYlette

·      Applicants must be minority identifying, with an overall cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher

·      Applicants must submit a letter of recommendation from a professor teaching one of their core classes

·      Applicants must have selected a business program or related major such as Marketing, accounting, finance or business administration

·      Applicants must be a current high school senior or recent graduate going into their first year of college in the 2020 fall semester

·      Applicants must be residents of Miami-Dade or Broward County

·      Winner will be announced on August 10TH, 2020
