Peter Taunton is the Iconic Founder of Snap Fitness & Lift Brands but his success didn’t happen overnight. After leaving college, Peter went from professional Racquetball player to fitness club owner making a $16,000 per year salary.

After 8 years, Peter made enough money to buy the fitness club outright from the same owners that hired him. Even that wasn’t easy, Peter had to make difficult decisions from Day 1, including firing many of the workers who were contributing to the club's failure.

Even after that location was successful, Peter had ambitions to create a better fitness model. He removed the swimming pools, tennis courts and cut down the fitness club model down to the fitness essentials.

Within 90 days, the club, which would become Snap Fitness, was positive cash flowing. Once he successfully launched 3 clubs, he knew he had a franchise concept at scale.

In the next year, he opened 15 clubs, systemized his franchise model, and took on his role at the head coach of a fast scaling business. Today, Peters companies have over 6000 locations in 28 countries across Lift Brands and became the gold standard for scaling a fitness brand.

In this episode, he shares his success model, the importance of staying lean, systemization, and scaling with company culture. Everything Peter has ever built starts with a great team around him.
