In this homily on the Second Sunday of Easter, The Rev. Ed Bartle, Associate Rector of St. George Episcopal Church, discusses what can be called the charter of the Church. When Jesus appeared to his disciples following his resurrection, he told them that he was sending them out into the world like his Father had sent him into the world. It is the Christian’s responsibility to deliver Christ’s message to the world. However, we must be sure that the message we deliver is Jesus’ message and not our own self-made policies. The Christian faith is not a blind faith as it does rest upon evidence; faith requires that we trust the testimony of others. Our faith is a matter more of hearing and believing rather than seeing and believing.
