In this homily on the Second Sunday after Pentecost, The Rev. Beth Hall, Assistant to the Rector at St. George Episcopal Church, expounds on the Gospel reading – Mark 3:20-35. She points out how the religious leaders in Jesus’ day did not recognize his powers as God given and instead thought they came from Satan. They did not understand how God’s saving love overpowers Satan nor did they understand that by proclaiming belief in Jesus, they would enjoy everlasting life instead of death. We as followers of Christ are his family and know that Jesus and his love are with us through the ups and downs of life. We are stronger with Christ in our lives and this knowledge is freeing, healing, and brings hope to our future.
