Nina Hagen is a pioneering artist and cultural icon who has broken new ground in the world of music and entertainment. With her distinct and often shocking style, she has captivated audiences around the world and earned a place in the annals of pop culture history.

Born in 1955, to an opera singer mother, in what was then East Germany, Hagen began singing in musicals at the age of 8. She moved to West Germany, at the age of 13, where she studied operatic singing. In 1976, when she was 19, she moved to England and pursued a career in rock music. She was soon signed to the Ariola record label and released her first album, Fearless, in 1979.

Her unique look, sound, and performances quickly gained attention and she became a celebrity in her own right. She drew influence from a variety of genres of music including punk, disco, rock, and New Wave. She achieved further success with singles such as "New York New York" and albums such as Unbehagen and NunSexMonkRock.

Her performances throughout the 1980s were characterized by outrageous costumes and lyrics that were often sexually explicit. She frequently criticized politicians and gave voice to those without a voice, making her an outspoken advocate for social issues. She has appeared on television shows such as Top of the Pops and The Old Grey Whistle Test and has written books and starred in films such asCat's Play (1984).

Nina Hagen's career has spanned more than four decades, during which time she has released numerous albums, performed live performances around the world, written books and appeared on television programs. She remains one of the most influential musicians of her generation and is remembered as a true icon of modern culture.
