Getting Into Shadow and Bone

This week on Getting Literate, Katie and Julia tackle YA fantasy's eternal question: Have you ever met a teenage girl? The gals talk about the merits of bullying your main character, the whininess of adolescence, and being "not like other girls" (but sometimes its true). Katie thinks it's icky to date someone you grew up with, and Julia makes a fantastic case for getting some distance from first person POV. PLUS: reflections on how annoying teen girls are, imjockster syndrome (imposter syndrome for jocks), the purity paradigm, and how to have a hot girl Grisha summer.
