Our special guest will be retired FDNY Mike Higham. He was appointed to the FDNY in 1968 and Assigned to 14 truck. Unfortunately he only did 3 years on the job. In 1975-77, He and his wife served as members of the People's Firehouse (Engine 212 ) Action Committee during the successful campaign to reopen 212. He will also talk about Paul Thayer (1913-1977) , Pulitzer Prize winning photo journalist, who spent thousands of hours capturing breathtaking images of firefighters at work in NYC’s busy Harlem neighborhood. #peoplesfirehouse #paulthayer

I made this film in the late 1970s with much help from the People's Firehouse and Third World Newsreel, and many others. It won awards at the Mannheim Film Festival & the American Film Festival, and was screened multiple times on WNET PBS Channel 13 in NYC 1979-1985.
