I'm excited to announce that I have started a new branch of my podcast, Get Well with Dr. Shel, called Navigating Life, where I use both my medical expertise and personal experiences to help and prevent you from encountering avoidable health and wellness challenges.

This episode is all about self care, which has garnered a lot of media attention recently, so much so it has become an entire $10 million a year industry!

The Pew Research Center states that millenials spend about twice as much as baby boomers on self-care essentials such as gym memberships or workout equipment, dieting, life coaching, yoga/meditation, and the list goes on. There's a lot someone can say about this, and some may even chalk this up to “materialism” or “selfishness”. I am here to tell you:

Self Preservation =/= Selfishness

If you do anything today, let it be this: take a lesson from the younger generation, they are using tools of self care, entirely defined by their needs, to preserve their health and wellness (and preventing unwanted deterioration down the road). You, and only you, define which self care modalities to practice.
