Andy Sitze got started as a musician when he was a child playing in multi-generational family gospel-bluegrass band, he still plays and tours with his brothers in the Flat River Band. Michael has trouble telling bluegrass from country or western but their chat helps explain that.

This episode goes into the details of how Andy and his brother try to write with clear intentionality, record like a live show, and bridging gaps in their audiences. The show also gets into evolving styles, trends in the music industry and working outside the mainstream of the country and americana genres. The Flat River Band has toured with some big names and shares some interesting connections with music history, Michael ask what it’s like to get close to fame and how different that can be from your expectations.

What it comes back to is pressing forward no matter what and communicating that simple message to their audience.
