If you have ever felt like you were drowning, don’t know how to swim, and someone just handed you an anchor this Psalm is for you. The effects of the Fall and hardships of life come at us from so many angles. Our own sin and failures are a huge part, but add to that suffering, enemies attacking, friends betraying, depression and anxiety, and shame and it makes for dark times with little hope. So what is one to do in those times? This Psalm is a deep lament out of the pit crying out for God to hear and God to act, but the Psalmist also reveals the correct response, and that is to keep believing and worshiping our God.
