GKP S5/E3 - Smart City Upgrades, 5G Full Potential, China Spying

G'day Folks,

Thanks for tuning in to Season 5 Episode 3.

On this one Ethan and Andy join me to discuss new announcements to upgrade our cities like Sydney and Melbourne to be SMART cities. Similar how we discussed this about Brisbane's upgrade for the 2032 Olympics on the last episode.

What does this mean? High tech surveillance state upgrades like camera networks, sensor driven autonomy, Internet of Things (IoT), 5G integration and possibly coalescing a high-speed rail connection to other SMART city hubs. Remember what SMART stands for? They don't mean intelligent. It stands for Self-Monitoring, Analysis, & Reporting Technology.

Australia's 5G network is now at full potential. Over the last 2-3 years the 5G rollout has been ramped up while the scamdemic had everyone locked in their houses. More towers went up and more towers got upgraded. Anything previous to now was being run on the 4G network infrastructure. But now 5G Standalone is here. Full potential has been reached. What does this mean and what does it possibly mean for us? Listen and find out.

USA and UK have recently banned the use of Chinese made security cameras being used in government facilities. This was on the back of the National Intelligence Law passed in China that compels Chinese companies to pass on information to the Chinese government. Straight up spying is what it is. Does this mean that China based social media company Tik Tok must hand over any data the Chinese government wants? Short answer is yes. China has been quite blatant about their eavesdropping in recent times. There was even a Chinese spy ship gathering electronic intelligence in Australian waters for 3 weeks in November last year.

But is Australia going to follow suit with it's allies and ban the use of Chinese made CCTV cameras in Australian government buildings? Or is our government going to turn a blind eye to their spying here? If so, why? Could it be because of our Governments rush towards a Chinese style Social Credit System?
