Since the beginning of human life, we’ve been getting sick. Plagues and epidemics have run through populations, with obvious ones like the Black Plague knocking off huge swaths of the population. But even with modern technology we fall victim to outbreaks of disease. In the late 20th century the largest waterborne disease epidemic in United State’s history struck, known as the Milwaukee Cryptosporidium outbreak of 1993.
