In this episode, Nicole Pearcy and Alexa Jadoch talk about the upcoming Flu Shot events that G-Health is hosting this October with collaboration with the Buffalo COVID-19 Community Response Team, REACH, United Healthcare, and Buffalo Pharmacies. And we are later joined by Urban Family Practices' Dr. Fox who shares a wealth of information about what the flu shot is and how it can help prevent influenza.

THE FLU SHOT EVENTS WILL BE AT:
GBUAHN - October 15, 2020
555 Niagara St., Buffalo, NY 14201
1pm - 5pm

Second Baptist Church - October 24, 2020
18 Church St., Lackawanna, NY 14218
10am - 2 pm

Mt. Olive Baptist Church - October 31, 2020
701 E. Delavan Ave., Buffalo, NY 14215
10am - 2pm

Due to our collaboration with Buffalo Pharmacies, everyone and anyone can come to receive a flu shot (even if you are not an Urban Family Practice patient). Just remember to bring your insurance card.

If you do not have insurance, United Healthcare will be available at these events to help enroll individuals who are applicable.

Free food will be available for those who participate while supplies last.

REACH has partnered with GBUAHN to address the low rates of African Americans/Blacks and Latinx communities that get Flu vaccination here in the city of Buffalo. The five point plan includes the following through September 29, 2021:
• Support and leverage CDC’s seasonal flu materials;
• Develop and implement community-based, culturally-appropriate messages;
• Identify and train trusted community-level spokespersons;
• Organize events and educational campaigns; and
• Build partnerships with healthcare providers and other health professionals to increase vaccination rates for racial and ethnic minority groups.
