1047 - ENCORE-Escape The City

Welcome to Gay Travel Today! I’m Teraj and I’ll be your guide as we explore, engage and indulge in the world of LGBTQ+ travel today.

As fulfilling as a long vacation getaway can be, day trips can lead to memories that’ll last a lifetime! It can be exciting to uncover a new world right outside of your own backyard. If you live in New York City like me, here are some great day trips to add to your travel itinerary! First up is the Gateway National Recreation Area. It’s a fun mix of history, beaches and outdoor activities. Whether you want to walk across miles of beaches and watch seals come ashore or hike a seven-mile trail through Fort Hancock, the options are bountiful. Or maybe the Hamptons are more your speed? Take a stroll up Main Street for some shopping or through LongHouse Reserve for massive botanical and sculpture gardens. If you want to get more in-tune with nature, check out Bear Mountain for a panoramic view of the Hudson Highlands. And let’s not forget about Fire Island, which is internationally known for its gay festivities, but it’s also home to a more relaxed and chill experience if you are up for exploring Ocean Beach. Where is your favorite hidden getaway in New York? Let us know by using the #GayTravelToday and #Sagitravel hashtags.
