Ep. 20 "Kingdom Farts" (with Casey Fox)

Why?
Because this week, we’re finally diving into one of our favorite game series of all time: KINGDOM HEARTS! An incredibly fun, beloved, and at times, convoluted series of action RPGs with killer gameplay, truly gorrrrgggge music, and an emotionally compelling story that blends the anime-style storytelling of Final Fantasy with - you guessed it - the beloved characters, settings, and IP of the Walt Disney Company! (really!)

We know that sounds bonkers and impossible to parse, but luckily we're joined by our friend Casey Fox (he/him), one of the world's foremost scholars on all things Kingdom Hearts, to help us explain why we love this series of games so much, its queer underpinnings of losing your place in the world and finding family through friendship, and how this innocuous story about traveling to Disney worlds unfurls into a mystery box with deep, complex lore (which fans like us?? eat right up honey)

These games were capital-F Formative for all 3 of us, so we hope you enjoy us taking a deep-dive into this beloved and strange series of video games!
