We live in a world where we are bombarded with catastrophic events. You turn on the news and all you hear about are all the bad things that are happening to people around the world. How should we respond to this? Jesus calls us to show compassion. In the parable of the good Samaritan, there is a person who is robbed and almost beaten to death on the side of the road. Two people, who are known to be people of God, go out of their way to ignore the man on the side of the road. It is the enemy of the one who was beaten that helped this poor soul. He went above and beyond the call to help him as well.

As Christians compassion for others should move us to action. If God has given us the means to help someone, we should go out of our way to help people in need. Even though there are thousands upon thousands of people that need help we should do our part to help the one that is put into our path.
