Around 1159 AD, Bhaskara The Learned sketched the earliest known design for a Perpetual Motion Machine. 
He probably had not been the first and he certainly wasn’t the last great mind to attempt to create a contraption that could do work indefinitely. 
Among the other failed attempts were those of Leonardo Da Vinci and our very own Robert Boyle.
