In this podcast, Marcus talks with Jan Janhsen from Fraunhofer Institute who are an organisation dedicated to supporting and developing innovation in manufacturing. Since the beginning of 2020, Jan has been working in the department of additive manufacturing at the Fraunhofer IPA. His work particularly focuses on high-viscosity, functional 3D printing using piezo-based inkjet technologies. We talk about how inkjet is developing for 3D, what his view of the future might be, and how vital R&D combined with commercialisation is to the success of the future of inkjet.
Jan Janhsen studied mechanical engineering in Aachen. After his Master of Engineering, he started working at Fraunhofer IPA 2015. His work topics include the development of control software and automation systems for inkjet-based 3D printing machines and test rigs. He focuses on photopolymer-based additive manufacturing (AM) processes and hybrid process combinations for AM-based manufacturing technologies. Since the beginning of 2020, he has been working as group manager of the division "Photopolymer-based AM Processes" in the department of additive manufacturing at the Fraunhofer IPA. His work particularly focuses on high-viscosity, functional 3D printing using piezo-based inkjet technologies.
