In developing news, Category 4 storm Hurricane Ida has made landfall in the US state of Louisiana — hitting Louisiana’s coastline earlier today.

Louisiana’s governor, in a news conference, said that this storm system could be the most powerful to affect his state in more than 160 years. For comparison’s sake, Katrina was a Category 3, yet that storm caused serious damage and thousands of deaths in the region.
