Developing story… Yesterday — May 3, 2022 — the Earth was struck by another X-class solar flare, this one was rated X1.1 with accompanying Strong Radio Blackout effects experienced in parts of the world, according to NOAA and the Space Weather Prediction Center (SWPC).

There have been several X-class flares recorded over the last month, which is higher than historical averages.

According to some, this is the first of the tangible evidence that Solar Cycle 25 — which we have been in since December 2019 — could end up being historically one of the most active solar cycles yet experienced, if current trends are maintained or accelerate in the months ahead.
