The level of dividends available from equities may have been reduced both by the pandemic and structural changes, but investors' angst is likely to be temporary, according to the guests on the latest FTAdviser podcast.

Special projects editor David Thorpe was joined by Graham Bishop, chief investment officer at Hartwood, Sam Witherow of JP Morgan Asset Management, and David Keir, global equity fund manager at Saracen to discuss whether inventors would still be able to rely on equity for income.

They also discussed whether investors faced a choice, between investing in the few global companies which were growing but paying no dividends, such as big tech companies, or income-paying companies that have little growth. They also explored the role of mid- and small-cap companies and the potential emergence of China as a dividend market.

After the break, David was joined by FTAdviser reporter Imogen Tew and digital editor Damian Fantato to discuss some of the week's news.

The FTAdviser Podcast is the weekly podcast for financial advisers, brought to you by FTAdviser.com. Each week, FTAdviser is joined by guests from the industry to discuss the week in news and pressing industry issues.
