Our guest is Rockford painter Kelvin Candie. Candie was born and raised in the Republic of Malawi, attended medical school in Russia, and now lives with his wife and dog in Rockford. Kelvin’s paintings draw inspiration from realism to abstract and experimental genres.
During this conversation he shares how he deals with past trauma through artistic expression - an idea he explores in his upcoming solo show called “Symphony of a broken mind,” which opens on May 25, at Loft Ten19 in Rockford.
Candie visited the Rockford Register Star newsroom on April 16th.
