Jenny Mathews is the latest guest on the Rockford Register Star podcast.

Mathews is a Rockford native, the co-owner of 317 Art Collective, a book illustrator, a muralist, a roller-derby athlete, and a mom.

Her art work ranges from small-scale watercolors and ink drawings, to large scale murals.

Words like obsession, magic and wishing are all themes she threads throughout her work.

You can find her work on the walls of city landmarks like the Rockford Art Museum, the Discovery Center, the Rockford Public Library. And starting on May 15th, you can find her leading a group of muralist painting a building at the 400 block of East State Street in Rockford as part of the weeklong CRE8IV: Transformational Art festival.

Mathews is a great storyteller and today we’ll hear about plastic-eating jellyfish, kids drawing on the walls, and the summer of art.
