Every year people gather and flock to Sweetwater, TX. They gather for an event the is considered "fun for the whole family". They come to see thousands of rattlesnakes get slaughtered. These animals are often caught within a few months of the roundup. The snakes are not given adequate food and water before they are slaughtered.

Hunting rattlesnakes is done by pouring gasoline down rattlesnake dens. This forces anything in that den out. It is not only the rattlesnake that is affected by this method. It prevents any species from inhabiting the den for years to come.

It is not necessary to eradicate the roundups completely. Many roundups have become no kill educational festivals. Please contact Texas Parks & Wildlife to create limits and ban gassing. Also, consider supporting no kill roundups!
