This week, FNM is joined by Dr. Jonathan Branfman, Professor of Gender and Media Studies, author of the award-winning book "You Be You! The Kid’s Guide to Gender, Sexuality, and Family" and Ted talker, to discuss gender, Jewishness and pop culture. We talk about Jewish masculinity and female stereotypes in films and TV shows like Neighbors 1 & 2, Broad City, and Mrs. Maisel.  We also break down how different types of Jewishness are represented on screen and discuss the different actors that lean into their "Jewishness" and what that means in pop culture today. We end the ep, of course, with a round of our latest recommendations, so don't miss out!

Shoutouts in this ep to: Julie Benbassat (illustrator for "You be You" ), Jake and the Publications team, Craig and Brian from Take Too Podcast, and the amazing Jackie Tohn (Glow).
