In this episode, Terry & Wendy take a look at what detachment truly is and they debunk some of the misconceptions that surround it, and how it can make such a massive impact on being a firm, kind leader in our home.

True detachment is not allowing what someone else says or does to disturb our sense of value & worth. Detachment is so crucial for our mental health, and the health of our relationships with our families.

In order to detach in a healthy way, it’s important for us to have kids who feel safe, seen, and soothed, even when things get messy in our homes. This episode covers very simple and tactical steps that we can follow to accomplish this.

At the end of the day, the only thing we can truly control (regardless of what’s taking place around us) is our own actions, responses & mindset. Having the ability to walk away BEFORE tensions run high (and behaviors that we might later regret start taking place) is such a powerful place to be.

Detachment is another one of the amazing tools that we can add into our parenting toolkits.
