Both on & off the mat, we have a responsibility for what we contribute energetically on a day-to-day basis. When we teach in a yoga studio, it is “our place;” but whenever we leave the studio, we have the opportunity to be an example of living the practice off the mat. As yoga teachers, we are a living example of what the practice can do, and we are not some mystical and ethereal being. It is important to identify our responsibility for our contributions. How do I become aware of what my mind is saying and my mouth is saying, because what I think & what I say is the contribution that I offer. Like a footprint in the sand, what we contribute remains in place for moments after we have taken the steps.
