British newspapers are reporting that Princess Haya Bint al Hussein, wife of the ruler of Dubai, has fled the United Arab Emirates with her two children and sought asylum in Germany.
It's the second time in two years that a female family member of Sheikh bin Rashid al-Maktoum has fled Dubai, with one of his daughters reportedly cut off by armed men when she attempted a daring escape by sea.
It's thrown the spotlight on a country considered more progressive than others in the region when it comes to women's rights.
