Just in time for the June 30th deadline to sign-up for Louisville’s highly successful Solar Over Louisville program (http://100percentlou.com/2040), this week's show brings you highlights from the June 4th Kentucky Solar Energy Society (http://kyses.org) Annual Meeting, hosted on campus by UofL’s Sustainability Council. This week we’ll hear from Sumedha Rao, LEED AP, a Sustainability Specialist in Louisville Metro Government’s Office of Advanced Planning and Sustainability (http://louisvilleky.gov/sustainability); and Steve Ricketts, co-founder of Solar Energy Solutions and a Principal at Generation Solar. You’ll learn all about the Solar Over Louisville program and get some important warnings about the solar scammers who are starting to invade our region, offering shoddy work and deals that are literally too good to be true. Beware! Be informed!

Louisville Metro Government and the Louisville Sustainability Council launched the Solar Over Louisville program to make it easy for residents and small businesses in the 15-county greater Louisville region to go solar by providing a 12-19% bulk purchasing discount on solar installation and connecting participants with a vetted solar installer. Going solar saves energy costs, potentially increases property value, supports local solar jobs, and helps Louisville achieve its 100% clean energy goals! Tune in to learn more about what you need to know before going solar! Learn more at http://100PercentLou.com/2040.

On next week’s program, we’ll bring you more from the KySES Annual Meeting, including a Solar 101 workshop and great information on home battery systems for solar – when you should consider them and when you shouldn’t.

The Kentucky Solar Energy Society’s mission is to promote the use of renewable energy, energy efficiency, and conservation in Kentucky through education, advocacy, networking, and demonstration of practical applications.

As always, our feature is followed by your community action calendar for the week, so get your calendars out and get ready to take action for sustainability NOW!
