On this week’s Sustainability Now!, your host, Justin Mog, parks his bike for a chat with long-time sustainability and transit advocate, Jackie Green, and Sumedha Rao, Executive Director of the Mayor’s Office of Sustainability (http://louisvilleky.gov/sustainability). They are both participating in a new effort called "Deeper, Darker Green - Empowering and encouraging one another in facing Climate Change.” The next meeting of the group is coming up this Wednesday, August 9th at 6pm in the LFPL Main Library's 2nd floor Board Room. If you'd like to learn more, or get involved, contact Jackie Green

We discuss some of the work the group has begun exploring around increasing transit ridership and how, more broadly, active engagement in issues about which one is passionate is an anxiety-reducing practice! So far, the new group has affirmed:
...the need to empower and encourage one another in facing Climate Change as a positive message;
...the effort to decrease anxiety, fear, guilt, depression or insomnia;
...a shared need for a community of like minds;
...a shared need to reduce consumption; and
...a shared need to redirect dollars to environmentally benign projects.

As always, our feature is followed by your community action calendar for the week, so get your calendars out and get ready to take action for sustainability NOW!
