Tina Ward-Pugh is originally from Mississippi. She has an undergraduate degree in Business Administration from Belmont University. She moved to Louisville in 1987 and attended Southern Seminary where she earned her Master’s in Social Work and decided to make Louisville her home.
As a young Social Worker and Feminist marching for Abortion Rights, LGBTQ rights and for fair housing while at the Coalition for the Homeless,
● She first worked to elect women judges, and other progressive people to office before running for the first time, and successfully winning, in 1998.
● Tina Ward-Pugh was elected to the 1st Ward Alderwoman, the 9th District Councilwoman and most recently the Director of the Louisville Metro Office for Women.
Tina’s long-been a progressive voice for human right. and
● That includes leading the passage of a Fairness Ordinance, twice;
● Leading the Smoking Ban public health initiative;
and helping to create the Louisville Affordable Housing Trust Fund.
