Don’t forget to do these five things when selling your home!

Thinking of buying? Search all homes for sale on the MLS

Today we’ll be going over the five things home sellers often overlook:

1. Staging. People forget the importance of having a home professionally staged. Though you may like the way your furniture is arranged, it may not be the best use of your home’s space or it may not showcase the great qualities of the room.

2. Curb appeal. The outside of your home is the first impression it makes. If you fail to give it the attention it needs, buyers may be turned off before ever setting foot inside your home.

3. Odors. Unpleasant smells can be deal-breakers to a lot of buyers. The smell of pets, smoke, and other unpleasant scents can be the reason that your home sits on the market for too long.

4. Lighting. Buyers love a light, bright room. Replace burnt-out light bulbs and open up your windows to bring in natural light; this will create an atmosphere that any buyer will love.

Minimizing decor. In addition to depersonalizing your home, you may want to tone down your decorations. It’s safe to stick to neutral wall colors, such as white, gray, or taupe. Think of it as a blank canvas—let the buyer be the artist of their new home.
