 Heather Dew Oaksen wears three hats as a media artist, independent producer/director, and professor of new media at   Cornish College of the Arts, Seattle, Washington. Educated as a social anthropologist and urban planner, her process usually begins with interviews with marginalized Americans. Moving beyond pure documentation by using aesthetic tools and forms that enable a deeper consideration of the content, her work challenges viewers to see social issues in new ways through altered scale, sequence, light, and point of view.
