Supa Dupa Fly: From Good to Great

This week, we’re joined by the talented and driven Principal Research Scientist, Ms. Vivian Smith. Vivian vividly recounts her journey in STEM and shares how it led her to a career in biosafety and security. Determination, favor, and opportunity are among the things that led Vivian to work for the not-for profit organization, Battelle. This opportunity allows her to partner with nations across the world to safeguard our interest here in the United States. Vivian reminds young scientists that there are so many transferrable skills they can leverage. She notes, “If you can manage your lab then you can manage grants and government contracts”. Vivian candidly shares a moment where a colleague advocated for her when they could have easily remained silent.
