Trouble in Paradise- LGD's on vacation!

It is incredible important to get that vacation, even as a homesteader. Taking time to smell the breeze, maybe dip your feet in the saltwater, but it is incredibly difficult to step away and trust others with your homestead while you are away. We took our first time away, and we had some serious problem with a big man on our farm,  Chopsticks. What can we do better next time to help the livestock guardian dogs feel more comfortable with helpers on the farm.

Puppy Love 101

Love our homestead and in loving our puppies. I got so excited I got wrapped up in a 20minute conversation just about our dogs! Dogs are man's best friend, and I have several around my farm. Each dog, (Sushi, Chopstix, Nori, and the little pups) all have their own personality and have their own challenges in training and tasks around the farm. We love our dogs and thankful to have them as coworkers around the homestead! Lets talk dogs!

Had the pleasure of reading Joel Salatin's Your Successful Farm Business : Production, Profit, Pleasure.  It was a fantastic read and great depth of knowledge of successful business models but gives in depth expertise on farming (homesteading) and how you can achieve a successful farm or homestead operation. I give 6 things I learned from Joel Salatin's book and hope to apply to my homestead to make my hobby/survival farm prosper for years to come.
