Paul acknowledges the Philippians have obeyed God, and we have too. But our response to Christ's work on the cross goes beyond doing what we're told. Paul challenged the Philippians and he challenges us to turn pro. Don't just obey, work out your salvation. Christ initiated our salvation. We initiate the work God has given us. Let's not wait to be told what to do, but let's take the initiative. It's like Paul is saying, you have obeyed, but now it's time to turn pro. Become a worker with a purpose, a professional, full-time. Paul encourages us to be like God who is working too.
