Jesus says the gentle or the meek will inherit the earth. The poor in spirit, or the spiritually humble will receive the kingdom of heaven (Matthew 5:3). These humble, gentle, people will inherit the earth. A meek person is someone who restrains their own power. Gentle and humble also apply. This same Greek word is used to translate the word humble or gentle when Jesus quotes the Old Testament in Matthew 21:5. Can we be gentle, humble and look out for others? If so, we will inherit the earth!
