What's your fuel? Hi, I'm Mike Henry Sr. with Follower of One. Thanks for joining me again today on the Follower of One podcast. I think we all run on something. Sometimes I think I run on junk food, but really the fuel that I want to run on is faith. We started talking about Hebrews chapter 11 in our previous episode, and I want to talk a little bit more about how by faith, many of the people in Hebrews 11 are referenced. And so let's read verses two and three. "For by it the people of old received their commendation. By faith we understand that the universe was created by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things that are visible." That's Hebrews 11:2-3 from the English Standard Version.

By it is the reference in verse two, it's talking about faith from verse one, we talked about in the previous episode. And by faith is used in several of these verses where it talks about this Paul of faith, this chapter of all these great people who did magnificent things by faith. What do you do by faith every day? Sometimes, I think we believe that our faith should challenge us to do these grand things. These massive examples, Abraham obeyed, when he was called and he went out, Noah built the Ark, Enoch was taken up, abel offered to God a more acceptable sacrifice than Cain. We see all these named people who did all these great things by faith.

But when we look at the body of Christ and when we look at, those people saved by Jesus throughout history, we see faith is something that happens every day. It challenges us every day. In the book Rare Leadership by Marcus Warner and Jim Wilder, they talk about how we either run on joy or fear and talks about joy or fear being our fuel. Well, joy is actually a by-product I believe of faith. When we operate according to our faith and we see the results of that, we experience joy. And we can live according to our faith and watch God move, we experience that joy and that joy becomes a motivator for us.

Our faith, I believe is the real fuel because faith is what causes us to go to church on Sunday. Faith is what challenges us to tithe. By faith, mike did X or Y. Did I today, by faith, do the things that God asked me to do? Today, did I pray for my boss? Today, did I go out of my way for a coworkers? Today by faith did I look out for my wife or do something special for someone else? By faith, did I take a few minutes and pray for someone or give an extra gift or go an extra mile? By faith I wish I drove the speed limit more. By faith I want to live according to the rules of the nation in which I live. I'm told to submit to authority.

My faith should change my behavior on a daily basis. Does it? Does our faith guide us? Today I want to challenge us as marketplace Christians. Let's ask God what he would have us do, and then lean into the faith and do it. Let's begin with the prayer here I am, Jesus. What do you want me to do today? The ideas that pop into our head, those are ideas from God. Let's do them. Let's pray for our coworkers. Let's look for opportunities to make a difference in the lives of others around us. That's what we're called to do as marketplace Christians. We're gonna talk a little bit more about faith in the next couple of days. This is, to me is great stuff and a great challenge to us as marketplace Christians.

Thanks for being a marketplace minister. If you'd like to join a community of people who want to make a difference every day with their faith, check out https://community.followerofone.org and join us on the next marketplace mission trip.
