It's the big THREE OHHH! Episode 30 sees Will and Joe return from Exploding Helicopter - your premier podcast for exploding helicopters. BOOM! This time we’re reviewing Joe’s choice Taika (THOR. RAGNAROK) Waitit’s Hunt for the Wilderpeople There’s no hiding that Flixwatcher are BIG Taika Waititi fans, currently our highest scoring Flixwatcher film is his comedy horror What We Do In the Shadows, so we were pretty happy to review this. The plot is pretty simple, Ricky Baker is a pretty bad egg and ends up on the run with his adopted Uncle Hec - the whole film works because of Waititi’s warm, sweet and daft humour and performances from Julian Dennison and Sam Neill. There are some moments where, quote Will it feels like it’s “trying too hard for quirk”, but its hard not to fall for the films charm, silliness and Kiwi humour.
Scores It doesn’t beat What We Do In The Shadows - honestly though what will? - but scores full marks on the recommendability and overall scores a very respectable 4.1. A charming pick me up from the weird, uncertain reality we’re living in today. What do you guys think? Have you seen Hunt for the Wilderpeople? What did you think?
