Today's sermon is from Acts 19:11-20. It is about the miracles God performed through Paul in Ephesus. Also, the seven sons of Sceva try to use the words of Paul to cast out deamons. Here are the three points:
1) The Power of Jesus: through Paul the power of God is demonstrated- beyond anything that the Ephesians had ever seen.
2) The Attempt to Use Jesus: the seven sons of Sceva attempt to use/harness Jesus’ power for their own means/gain. It doesn’t go so well. We try to do this in ways at times. We forget that the point of Jesus’ power was to lead us to him.
3) The Extolling of Jesus: All of this leads to Jesus being honored- people coming to him. It also leads to believers repenting- coming into the light and submitting their whole lives to Jesus. This is how we should respond to Jesus’ power and authority.
