Geoff Woods talks to us about focusing on The ONE Thing that will get us to our ultimate goal, discusses how to surround ourselves with the 5 people that will help us achieve our goal, and how to get our loved ones on board with our ideas. He takes us through the defining moments in his life that lead him to make the change that landed him where he is today. He was scared, but he did it. He got out of his comfort zone and THAT is when the real change happens. He went from working a 9 to 5, to starting a The Mentee podcast to get to surround himself with his 5 people, to now working side by side with The One Thing co-authors Jay Papasan and Gary Keller, founder of Keller Williams Realty.

“We are the average of the 5 people we spend the most time with”- Jim Rohn.

Stop and think for a minute…who are your five people? That’s who you are. Are those people already living the life you want to be living? Do they have the types of marriages and careers you want? Are they making the type of income you want to be making? Now that you know, what are you going to do about it?

We may not know how to change our lives right now, but we can sure change our 5. And to get to those 5, you have to identify them and give them added value consistently before they help you.

What do you mean by added value consistently?

It’s like going to the bank, opening an account and asking for a withdrawal. You haven’t made a deposit, you can’t take the money. Same in life. Most people live life taking and taking, without adding value to it.

The people Geoff started surrounding himself with and going to networking events with, did not show up to take. They showed up to give of themselves.

Ask yourself when you meet someone “what are they struggling with and how can I help them?”

How do you get your loved ones to join you on your journey?

We all want to inspire and empower our loved ones on our journey but it doesn’t work. You can lead a horse to water, but you can’t force them to drink. The best thing we can do is to be the best, most authentic version of ourselves with them. Don’t try to force your ideas into them. Once you are the best version of yourself, others become interested and start asking questions.

Yes, we get it. This sounds great in theory, but how can this really be applied to our lives? Listen in to Geoff as he shares with us his story and next step recommendations. His story is an inspiring one you don’t want to miss.

How do you identify your 5?

Geoff and Jennifer do a roll play for Geoff to teach us how to figure this out.

First you have to get clear on where you are going. Where you want to be. Because you’ll want to find the people that have an expertise in the area that will get you to your ultimate goal.

Then, you talk about it. We are all connected to everyone in the world by 6 degrees. When you share your goal with every single person, someone will get you in touch if they’re not that person already.

Then, you play where the players play. Go to a media conferences, mastermind, events in your area of interest…. And you add value.

Our ultimate goals and top 5 changes all the time.

No habit gets stacked at the same time as another one. Only pick one habit at a time. Two won’t habit at a time. Until it’s really a habit.

Geoff’s 3 Habits to Ensure His Success Journey: Doing the ONE most important thing first thing every single day. Before emails, texts, before saying hello, before coffee, etc. Spending 15 minutes of uninterrupted quality time with family. Meditate every day at least for at least 1 minute.   Geoff’s Morning Routine:

He has a newborn, so there is no real morning routine. But prior to baby, this is what it was:

Do his ONE thing. Meditate. Moment of gratitude.
