52. Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981)

Indy turned 40 this year! Can you believe it?! Harrison Ford is now happily retired, thankfully. So there's no risk of repeating what we got in the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

South Parks episode sums that up nicely; LEAVE HIM ALONE! Have a look.

I feel another one brewing for Indy 5. Wait, what? Indy 5?!... Who's Ford facing off against, my nan?!

I wonder how much satisfaction there was back in 81 watching a bunch of nazis having their faces melted, heads shrunk, and hearts pulverized by some ghoulish elemental delights?! I hope that dreadful monkey was there getting his well-earned dose of Ark spookiness!

It turns out that this was Tom's first experience with Indy. As you'll hear, the overriding feeling was one of appreciation for a well-made film but a viewing for Thomas that probably came 40 years too late.

I believe Lucas and co-first conceived Indy as an alternative to Bond. We know Bond always gets the girl, but I didn't see him checking ID'S at the bedroom door, did you? And with Marion being 'just a child' and Mr Jones experiencing eyelid declarations of love in the classroom, we find ourselves starting to ask questions...

As Family Guy puts it, "50 no's, and 1 yes means yes."
