Are you a Tight Arse?

We went for a double dose of some Titans clashing to honour Lindsay and the fabulous work she does over at Schlock and Awe.

So Clash 1981 finds Professor McGonagall getting very cross, taking 50 points from young Harry and dumping him back in his closet. Fast forward to 2010; you find Voldemort swooping in to sink the chosen one's boat and drowning his parents in the process.

Does that guy ever learn?

I found the journey to Medusa's lair confusing as I'm unsure why either of our Percuss' needed the pretty girl's head? One look at Harry Hamlins pouted lips would have turned the Kraken to stone, and Sam Worthington could have just bored it to death.

Whilst watching, there was a growing sense that Ray's work was starting to show its age, now inhabiting the same universe as a young whippersnapper known as Star Wars. George Lucas, who once labelled Ray as one of his inspirations, had quietly nudged him out the door - all from the safety of his Death Star.

I saw a quote, "The last relic of a bygone age." Fitting as Ray Harryhausen, who wowed us with his stop-motion creatures for over 30 years, bowed out with Medusa, which stands as some of the Wizard's finest stop-motion magic.

Personally, I'd go with the tag - "Moments of Awe, loaded with Schlock." Ben from FilmFloggers 2021.
