Jill Jerard is a news anchor trying to catch her big break. She's hungry for the story that will push her to the big leagues so when an opportunity presents itself to head up to the top of the world to cover a story, she is the first to volunteer. The story she is sent to cover is about 3 grey whales trapped in the ice and unable to migrate south for the winter. Once in Alaska, Jill has to contend with the weather, the opportunistic youth and Adam, the reporter who sparked the world's interest in the story. Everything is going smoothly for Jill until her coarse, professional attitude puts her at odds with Adam and the emotion surrounding the story of the trapped whale family. That's okay though because Jill only has to put in another half decade of work before she finally makes it!
