Nora is a pessimistic mechanical engineer at the deep-sea drilling facility Kepler in the Mariana Trench. One day, disaster strikes when a strong earthquake causes a pressure breach, leaving many of the station's crew dead. With only a half hour to evacuate before the whole station explodes, Nora and a small group of survivors gear up for a seafloor walk to the next station where escape pods await to take them to the surface. The deadly water pressure is not all that threatens the remaining crew, though, as mysterious creatures soon attack, killing several more people. By the time they make it to the escape pods, just Nora and two other survivors remain...but so does one more massive danger: a giant Cthulhu-esque creature! In a final act of heroic sacrifice, Nora stays behind and overloads the station's engine core - destroying the monster and allowing the other survivors to reach the surface.
