Anesthesia
Sophie is an inscrutable grad student at Columbia University. Frustrated not only with her studies in philosophy, but with her general place in life, Sophie struggles with self-harm. One day, she shares her troubles with her professor and asks him to sit in on a therapy session. During the session, Sophie reveals her anger, frustration, and self-loathing over feeling isolated in a world that she sees only as disconnected and alien, devoid of genuine human interaction. Sophie's professor later convinces her to give up her instrument of harm, and make an effort to find peace with the world.
