FiLiA meets: Working Class Movement Library

Working people have always struggled to get their voices heard. The Working Class Movement Library in Salford records over 200 years of organising and campaigning by ordinary men and women. Our collection provides a rich insight into working people's daily lives as well as their thoughts, hopes, fears and the roles they played in the significant events of their time. The Library couldn’t function without its amazing team of volunteers, who undertake tasks such as welcoming visitors; cataloguing books, photographs, posters, badges etc; and looking after the Library’s garden which has been in severe need of taming! We also have a dedicated team of volunteers who research and then write the display boards for our popular exhibitions. FiLiA volunteer Sally came to speak to the team as they prepared the forthcoming suffrage centenary exhibition at the Library, Votes for Women…or Votes for Ladies?, which opens at the Library on 5 October 2018.
